MY PROMISE TO FAIRFAX
“Fairfax faces many challenges that we can only address if we restore confidence and trust in leadership and work together as a community.
As council member I’ll be accessible, listen to all and be responsive to the needs of our residents and businesses.”
— Cindy Swift
I’m running for Town Council because …
I want to ensure that we focus on core priorities including:
Maintaining Our Infrastructure Our roads have the lowest Pavement Condition Index rating in the County, and are the issue residents raise most in concern for safety and access. Our storm drainage infrastructure is inadequate to handle storm water flows too often leading to localized flooding.
Disaster Preparedness – Preparedness is a responsibility of everyone and every element of our Fairfax community…individuals, businesses and our government has a role to play. I will work to ensure we are prepared and resilient.
Doc Edgar Park is designated as a Temporary Refuge Area on the Cascade Canyon Evacuation map, yet it no longer has a water fountain for access to water.
Enhancing Public Safety – we need to make walking on our downtown sidewalks safer both for business activity and the general public – we need to ensure that electric mobility devices are always walked on sidewalks.
Preserving Our Open Spaces and Environment – Fairfax has a lot to celebrate in the recent purchase of the 100 acre Wall Property as open space, a stunning example of what we can do when we all pull together. Now, there’s a growing interest in protecting and conserving our nighttime environment by developing a Dark Sky compliant lighting policy. This fits with local concerns for the natural environment.
Advocating for Affordable, Compatible and Sustainable Housing As a Planning Commissioner, I voted for Victory Village, which provides low-income senior housing. In 2017, I asked my fellow Planning Commissioners to prohibit the short-term rental of Accessory Dwelling Units and Junior Accessory Dwelling Units to help preserve long term rental stock before it became a State requirement.
Going forward I will continue to advocate for affordable, compatible and sustainable housing to include the viability of existing rental stock.
